'New' Leadership Skills

This month I want to draw attention to the specific leadership skills that I believe are worth reflection. They aren't really new of course, but they are assuming greater significance as leaders strive to cope in an increasingly complex world. No matter the nature of their industry.

How to Get a Job at Google

  • Holden, Dan:
    Driving Out Fearful Leadership

This article captures the kind of conversations that leadership coaches like to initiate with leaders. The author acknowledges the pressure leaders are under today: the demands on their energy and resources, the pace of change, increasing complexities in workplaces and a volatile marketplace. Working under stress like this means leaders operate from a position of fear that keeps them from engaging with their people and systems and hampers the organization from developing the next generation of leaders. He gives quite practical suggestions for change.
